After the demo
What people say once they've seen it
Four reactions we hear often enough to quote.
I was surprised how complete the platform is. We thought we'd need significant customisation, but most of our workflows are already there.
The team was honest about limitations and what's being built next. That transparency made a big difference.
Seeing the real audit trail and compliance features built in was eye-opening. That's what we've been struggling with.
The donor messaging module alone would save us 20+ hours per month. The whole platform is even better.

About the demo
What to expect on the call
Length, format, who to bring, and what it costs. Short answers, because they are short questions.
Q01 How long is the demo?
30 minutes. Enough time to see what matters, ask questions, and understand capabilities. Not enough for a complete deep-dive — we can schedule follow-up conversations for that.
Q02 Is this a sales call?
No. We're not trying to close you in 30 minutes. We're showing you a working platform. If you have questions, we answer them. If you want to move forward, we'll tell you what that looks like. If you don't, no hard feelings.
Q03 Can I invite my team?
Yes. Invite whoever needs to see it — your director, your IT team, the staff who'll actually use it. More perspectives make for a better decision.
Q04 What if I don't have technical expertise?
Perfect. The demo is for everyone — operations staff, IT teams, administrators. We explain it so non-technical people understand, and you should stop us whenever something isn't clear.
Q05 Do I need to prepare anything?
No. We'll show you how the platform works with sample data. If you'd like to discuss your specific workflows beforehand, email us and we can tailor the demo.
Q06 What if I want a trial instead?
That's possible too. We can discuss it during or after the demo. Trial deployments take one to two weeks to set up.
Q07 What's the cost?
BloodBank.software is free and open source. You pay for implementation and support if you deploy it. We'll discuss pricing if you decide to move forward.
Q08 Is there a contract required to see the demo?
No. It's a 30-minute call. No contract, no commitment.
About the software
Before or after your demo
Licensing, hosting, compliance, cost, and how a free platform pays for itself.
Q01 What makes BloodBank.software different?
Open source. Self-hosted. Modern codebase. No licensing fees. Blood-specific rather than generic healthcare. API-first. Direct engineering support. No vendor lock-in.
Q02 How long does implementation take?
A typical implementation runs 3–6 weeks, depending on customisation. A simple deployment is 2–3 weeks; a complex one, 8–12 weeks.
Q03 Is this HIPAA compliant?
HIPAA-ready. We provide the technical controls — encryption, access control, audit logs. Your organisation implements the administrative and physical controls.
Q04 Can I self-host this?
Yes, and that's the default. You control the infrastructure and your data stays on your servers.
Q05 What if I want to move away later?
You own your data and can export everything. We won't hold you hostage — open source means you can run it independently if you need to.
Q06 Do you have references?
Yes. During your demo we can connect you with hospitals using BloodBank.software. Real implementations, real people you can talk to.
Q07 What's the total cost of ownership?
- Software
- Free, open source
- Implementation
- Typically $15K–$50K
- Support
- Typically $5K–$20K per year
Implementation cost depends on complexity, and support on your contract. Substantially lower than proprietary systems.
Q08 How is this sustainable if it's free?
We make money from implementation, customisation, and professional services. Open source is our business model, not a loss leader.
